         Autism,a neurodevelopmental disordern starting in childhood,is a lifelong disability that affects the way the sufferers relate to other people and their environment.Autistic children do not show special interest in faces and seem to have tremendous difficulty learning to engage in everyday human interaction .Even in the first few months of their lives,autistic infants may appaear very calm and may cry less often because they do not seek  parental attention.Autistic children are indifferent to other people.lacking eye contact and interaction with them.Autistic people often struggle to let other know what they need because their natural  language may not be apt towards speech ,and this creates problems for non autistic people who are unfamiliar with the autistic body labguage.Communication difficulties may contribute to autistic' characteristics-socially anxious,depressed,or prone to self-inflicted injuries.Unfortuately,as there is no cure for autism,treatment of this disorder seeks only to reduce the symptoms and help its sufferers function better.

        There are many kinds of treatments,among which are behavior modification,medication and facilitated communication.Behavior modification involves analyzing the cause of an undesirable behivior,and then using rewards and punishments to replace the behivior with a more appropriate response.For instance,children who spin or flap their arms because of anxiety about a situation can be taught to say,"stop",or point to a symbol for"stop."For the second treatment,physicians sometimes prescribe anti-psychotic drugs,beta-blockers,anticonvulsants,and medication to reduce self-abusive behavior,such as head banging and wrist biting.The third treatment is based on the idea that autistic people are unable to communicate because of impaired body coordination.In this technique,a trained professional supports an autictic's hand over an alphanumeric keyboard.The person learns to type messages and responses to questions.
